Profile: Paul M. Thompson

Mr. Thompson has over 10 years of experience in patent law as a patent coordinator and inventor, 14 years experience as an engineer, and 3 years experience as a practitioner. He is the former Vice President and COO of CytoLogic LLC, a startup biomedical research and development company developing and commercializing treatments for cancer using biological techniques. Prior to founding CytoLogic, Mr. Thompson was employed by Teledyne Water Pik for eleven years (1988-1999) as a Senior Technology Development Engineer. He developed numerous air and water purification products, and participated in the evaluation and establishment of new business opportunities for Teledyne. Within this capacity, Mr. Thompson was responsible for coordination of all facets of the company's intellectual property with outside council, including specific contributions in patent writing, infringement analysis, claims abatement and intellectual property instruction. In 1996, Mr. Thompson co-founded HydroGenics, Inc., a corporation involved in the importation and commercialization of a technology developed in the Russian defense industry and in its adaptation to the areas of commercial and industrial wastewater treatment. Mr. Thompson also has a strong background in Sports Medicine as a College Instructor (1987) and has worked as an athletic trainer and flight-for-life paramedic (1982-1984.)

Mr. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in physics from Creighton University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Denver, Space Science Laboratory in applied physics. He was awarded two Research Fellowships during his graduate studies - NASA Langley 1985, Alcoa Inc. 1986. Mr. Thompson holds four U.S. and four international patents.

Mr. Thompson has a unique combination of technical, legal, and business expertise. He has extensive experience in all areas of product development (from conception to market release) and the role and relevance of intellectual property within this process.
